Role Descriptions - Government Procurement
What is procurement?
Good question!
Essentially procurement professionals develop and manage contracts for $9 billion worth of products and services for the West Australian government. In this role you will develop first-rate negotiation and project management skills and will be involved in purchasing everything from environmental consultancy or internal audit services, to goods as diverse as Police helicopters, Fisheries patrol boats, PCs and Notebooks, or grasshoppers for the Perth Zoo.
In Western Australia there is no undergraduate major specifically preparing graduates for this role. For this reason we provide you with formal procurement training as well as extensive on the job support. This is in addition to the 12 days delivered to all DTF graduates on the corporate graduate training calendar.
Procurement is the fastest growing business profession in Australia so it is a great time to establish a career in this area, as it will continue to undergo rapid expansion across Australia and overseas within both the public and private sector.
