What do you enjoy about working in Compliance?
Training opportunities – Compliance graduates receive extensive training ‘on the road’ and through formal courses.
Flexible working arrangements – flexible work hours allow me to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Autonomous nature of the work – ability to manage my own case load.
Supportive environment – graduates have access to a great networking system through regular DTF graduate meetings, attending monthly public sector graduate events, and the ‘buddy’ program.

What interesting work have you been involved in?
Being a part of Compliance, the varied work and the opportunity to visit businesses all over Perth keeps things interesting and challenging. I have conducted Pay-roll Tax audits on businesses in the following industries: manufacturing, oil & gas, commercial printing, medical, real estate, retail, and transport.

In a nutshell what did you achieve in your graduate year in compliance?
Initially I was given in-house training, however within 4 weeks of commencing work with the DTF I was “on the road”, visiting a variety of businesses from different industries, whilst being trained by an experienced officer. The training was intensive, and lasted for 8 months. During this time I was only in the office 2 days a week, as the audits and investigations are conducted at the taxpayers/accountants premise. 

What interesting work/projects have you been involved in?
While conducting audits and investigations I was given the opportunity to travel to Kalgoorlie for a week and also Interstate for 2 weeks to perform my role. This was a fantastic experience.

What is good about working at DTF?
Treasury and Finance was attractive to me because of the many opportunities available through the graduate program, and following the program, the ongoing career advancement. I have found, in my 3 years with DTF, all personal and career goals have been achievable, mainly due to the training and career paths provided by DTF, along with personal motivation. 

During my time at DTF, training courses have been offered regularly to acquire new skills and increase the skills I currently have. This has enabled me to secure promotions and become more confident in my role within the agency.
