What is Shared Services?

Shared Services - rolesThe purpose of Shared Services is to provide corporate services to all Western Australian Government Agency (excluding Health and Education). This project was started in 2005 and is scheduled to finish 2012.  Shared Services is comprised of two areas: The Shared Services Centre and The Program Office. The Shared Services Centre provides Human Resources and Payroll services to agencies, which have already rolled into Shared Services. The Program Office deals with the actual building of the Shared Services Centre.

What can I expect as a Graduate?

Graduates coming into shared services get to do two six-month rotations. At the end of the first 12 months it may also be possible to do a third rotation if there are other areas you are interested in. As Shared Services is a relatively new organisation, which is still in the process of being built, there are many opportunities for graduate projects.

As a graduate officer the areas that you will be involved in include:

  • Designing HR and Financial Policy for the Whole of Government
  • Management and Business Services.
  • Liaising with client agencies
