What is Information Services?

Information Services - roles2The Information Services group provides the support, maintenance and management of information systems and computing infrastructure to facilitate Treasury and Finance in fulfilling its role.

It does this under a strategy the embodies the following:

  • IT Governance – the management of IT delivery;
  • IT service level management;
  • Capability – people skills;
  • Sourcing – provision of hardware/software; and
  • IT strategy and planning services

Depending on your interests and qualifications, as a Graduate Information Systems Officer you may be placed in either or both of the Applications Development or Technical Services Branches. In the Applications Development Branch you can expect to work on one of Treasury and Finance’s enterprise applications while in the Technical Service Branch you will work in the areas of infrastructure support and database administration.

What degree do I need?

Due to the nature of the work in the Information Services stream, graduates assigned to this stream typically have degrees in information processing, information management, computer engineering and computer science.

What sort of development will I have?

As a graduate in the Information Services stream you will receive in-house training and also attend external training courses to increase your knowledge and understanding of DTF’s technology platform.

The skills and experience gained as a Graduate Information Services officer will equip you for the many career advancement opportunities available within Treasury and Finance, as well as the wider public service and private sector.
