What is Building Management and Works?
Building Management and Works provides a range of building-related management services to deliver State Government's new buildings, manage and maintain the existing stock of 4000 properties, and arrange office accommodation for the 30,000 public sector employees in WA. These services are delivered using extensive in-house expertise in asset planning, project management and maintenance planning for Government’s building assets. Building Management and Works is committed to ensuring probity, value for money and effective risk management in all aspects of its operations.
What kind of work will I be involved in?
Graduates within Building Management and Works (BMW), will be involved in developing and implementing procurement strategies to deliver solutions to Government’s building and infrastructure requirements, and assisting in the project management and evaluation of programs for schools, hospitals, courts, prisons and museums across Western Australia (such as The Fiona Stanley Hospital, Perth Arena and the Perth to Bunbury Highway).
Our Graduates will experience placements through different Directorates of BMW. Roles may vary to some extent with each placement, but are all contained in the general role statements below:
Assists in achieving business objectives within a team environment, through assigned research, policy and project activities, allocated during developmental work placements.
Effectively participates in on-the-job and other learning and development activities, provided throughout the development program.
Builds on relevant tertiary education, with corporate knowledge, and applies professional expertise to support and enhance business activities.
Develops a sound understanding, knowledge and experience of the operations of the Department, through short-term placements.
What degree do I need?
Graduates from all degrees are considered. We encourage all Graduates to apply, who are interested in a career in the procurement and project management of Government’s building and infrastructure programs across Western Australia. The newly established BMW offers great career options.
Recommended degrees include Project Management, Property, Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, or related), Architecture/ Design, Planning, Business Development and any other field of studies that can be related to the above work areas.
