The Western Australian
Freedom of Information Act 1992 (FOI Act) gives the public the right to apply for access to documents held by State Public Sector agencies, including those of the Department of Treasury and Finance.
As a department in the Western Australian State Public Sector we are required to assist the public obtain access to documents at the lowest reasonable cost, and to ensure that personal information held is accurate, complete, up to date and not misleading.
The public’s right to apply for access to information is not affected by any reasons they may have for wishing to obtain access or the agency’s belief as to what their reasons are for applying.
The kinds of documents to which the public may request access includes paper files, computer records, maps, plans, photographs, tape recordings, films, video tapes and electronically stored information.
A member of the public has the right to apply for amendment of personal information about the applicant if the information contained in a document of the agency is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading. The application must be in writing and include among other things details and/or reasons for amendment.
