Financial Policy

Overview

Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) has a key role in the development and implementation of policies and strategies designed to assist the Government to achieve its financial management objectives.

Financial Policy Division

The Financial Policy Division is comprised of 2 branches:

  • Accounting Policy and Legislation; and
  • Financial Reform.

The role of the Division is to:

  • Develop and implement policies and practices for accounting, financial management and financial reporting for the public sector;
  • provide guidance and direction in the drafting of financial management and accountability provisions in legislation;
  • provide input into the accounting standards setting process;
  • be the principal source of advice in regard to interpretation and application of Accounting Standards and the financial management legislative framework within which the Western Australian public sector discharges its financial management responsibilities;
  • provide advice and assistance to stakeholders, primarily public sector agencies to:
    • promote a better appreciation and understanding of the financial management framework; and
    • assist with the implementation of endorsed reforms.
