2010 02 03  This Buyer Alert reinforces the need for government purchasing staff to be conscious of the aggressive marketing strategies used by some companies, as highlighted in the Buyer Alert issued on 29 October 2009.   
The Western Australian government has incorporated legislative amendments to the First Home Owner Grant Act 2000 regarding the introduction from 1 January 2010 of a cap on the total value of buying or building a home.
Mid-Year Review Corrective Measures
From 1 December 2009, the State Supply Commission advertising policy no longer mandates that government agencies advertise tenders over $150,000 in the West Australian newspaper.

The Department of Treasury and Finance provides quality economic and financial management for Western Australia.

The Department administers State revenue laws. It also performs a central contracting and tendering function, and whole-of-government shared services for human resources and finance.

It oversees building management and works for the State, including procurement, works and building construction, and the State’s big infrastructure projects through the Office of Strategic Projects.
